there are three
Phase change in a material occurs when it changes from solid to liquid to gas; or the reverse.
The parameter changing through this series is the attraction between molecules, and their distance apart.
In a solid, the molecules are close together, and have inter-molecular bonds (shared electrons) between them.
As the temperature increases (or the pressure decreases) , the space between the molecules grows, and the sharing of inter-molecular bonds becomes more difficult. The phase state tends to the liquid.
Further heating will add sufficient energy that the vibration (movement) of the molecules overcomes any inter-molecular bonds, and the substance becomes gas.
The above ignores the triple point, which is the unique point at which the substance may exist in the three phases. And at certain areas on the phase diagram, the material may change from solid to gas without passing through the liquid phase. This is a pressure dependent phenomenon.
Solid CO2 at normal atmospheric pressure transits from solid to gas without the liquid phase. But under sufficient pressure, liquid CO2 exists, and is a very useful commercial solvent, e.g. in the removal of caffeine from coffee.

Usually heat.
Chemical changes occur when the elements, their valences, and their amounts change. 4H + O2 => 2H2O is a chemical change because the valences change from unfilled to shared. Physical changes occur when the material phase changes. In fact, in 4H + O2 => 2H2O we also have a physical change...from gas to liquid water (in most cases). NOTE: That there was a chemical change here is incidental, the phase change is the physical change.
I think you mean vaporization. Vaporization is the phase change of matter from a liquid to a gas (vapor). Vaporization can occur through evaporation or boiling.
Phase change is a physical change.
The opposite phase change is condensation. Evaporation is the change in phase from liquid to gas. Condensation is the change in phase from gas to liquid.
Changing the temperature or pressure of a material we can change the phase.
Usually heat.

A change of phase occur, from liquid to gas.
its a phase change
A phase change occur, energy is absorbed, water volume decrease.
Energy must be transferred for any change of state to occur. A change of state is the same as a change of phase and there are four states that include liquid, solid, plasma, and gas.

Evaporation is not a phase change form i is a process by which phase change.
