In decoder for the 39 clues, you start out with several different colored marbles in the bottom. Depending on what level you are on, you will always get orange and green marbles. The goal of the game is to match the code at the end of the board (hidden). However, on the right of the board are 4 empty holes. If you press the solve button on the board, you will get either a white colored marble, black marble, or none at all. White colored marbles mean that you have a right color, but in the wrong position. Black means that you have the right colored marble and it is in the correct position. If none appears at all in a hole, that means you have the wrong colored marble and wrong position.
