Catholics remember and pray for those who "Sleep in Christ" (those who believe) and are waiting for God to bring them to heaven.
In ancient Egypt, cats were seen as the guardians of the dead. Also, a few religions were founded on worshiping cat gods.
No, Remember this is Greek Mythology! Meaning it Is not real. Fair enough if you are a Christian and believe in a God, but, well, I'm not, OK. I'm an Atheist (Meaning I don't follow any particular religion) and I look at all religions as Mythology. People normally only start to class a religion as a Mythology if it is (A) dead, or (B) proved incorrect. Greek mythology is both dead and has been proved incorrect. eg You will find that if you climb up mount Olympus, you will not find the home of the gods...!
As I remember, and after a thorough "body count", which was always required and radioed to HQ, most were thrown in mass graves.

A branch of Religious history deals with dead religions. You also run across the subject in Archaeology, Ancient History, Comparative Religion, and a few other areas.Science deals with ideas that can be tested. No one can devise a test that people can use to measure the ideas used by ancient religions.Another PerspectiveScience could well be called the record of dead religions for all the "religious" mysteries it has answered. Remember that most religions grew out of humankind's inability to explain the world around it.
In some religions they can
Many religions believe in the existence of spirits of the dead, often seen as souls that continue to exist in a different realm after physical death. These beliefs vary widely among different cultures and religions, with practices like ancestor worship, communication with spirits, and rituals to honor and remember the deceased being common themes.
Candles are used in very many rituals of everyday life, in many religions, and even by non-religious people. Candles are often lit to remember the souls of the dead, to pray for them, and to guide them to eternal life.
There are a lot of religions but the major ones are Islam, Christianity, Hinduism and Buddhism. Remember there are a bunch of other smaller religions. A medium sized religion is for an instance sikhism.

This is an interesting question. Many religions honor their dead with funeral services or rites. I believe that most of these traditions started more as an honor to the God that they served. Similar to an offering of sorts. Honoring the God by giving them the spirit of their dead. Please their God and their loved one will get to enter the afterlife. Some religions, like the Buddhist I believe, use chanting by monks to guide the spirits of the dead through the temptations of a sort of pergatory and into their next reincarnate life. Some religions, mostly of the less civilized tribes and cultures, perform ceremonies to appease the dead in fear that the dead might come back to haunt or curse them. Some religions believed in preserving the dead so that their bodies could be used in the afterlife. I think most religions, be it earthen burial, sky burial or cremation believe that the body is a shell for a spirit which has passed on and should be returned to the earth from which it came.
