Ribosomes are cell organelles that function to translate RNA into proteins. A cell's nucleus contains DNA (deoxyribo nucleic acid) which is like a blueprint for protiens. The cell copies (or transcribes) the DNA into RNA (Ribo nucleic acid) which leaves the nucleus. The Ribosomes attach to the RNA and for each 3 chemical components (referred to a letters) creates a protein from simpler chemicals in the cell's cytoplasm
