They mainly happen when the river catchments, (that is the area of land that feeds water into the river and the streams that flow into the main river)Which receives greater than usual amounts of waterHere is an example through rainfall or melting snow. Floods occur bya certain area getting an extended period of rainfall. Water amounts can add up, and have killed more people than tornadoes!
