The salt system is going to create sodium hypochlorite (bleach) from sodium chloride (salt) this system works great! It will make care of the pool very simple. Baquacil or biguinide the generic name is very expensive to use and you have to follow the directions exactly and sometimes exceed the recommendations in order to maintain the pool. If you develop a problem with this type of sanitizer it can take longer than a chlorine pool to recover and it will add big bucks to the cost of using this system. Salt systems a large initial capital outlay but will be cheaper and easier in the long run.

Can you use water softener salt for a pool salt system?

There are two types of salt based pool chlorinators. More expensive and less common are those with a separate salt tank and these will normally use tablet salt for water softeners. The more common type is where salt is added to the swimming pool itself. In the UK we most commonly use PDV salt - that is Pure Dried Vacuum Salt or table salt. Granular salt for water softeners can be used. Tablet salt for water softeners should be avoided unless you have a white liner, because the tablets may bleach spots on the pool liner before dissolving. Julian Hobday of KindWater.

It consists of a cell plumbed in after your filter and an electrical control system that monitors the cells performance.

Can you use pool salt in your pool with out the salt water system?

Sure, you CAN, but why would you want to? The purpose of the salt in a saltwater system equipped pool is to provide the chlorine the saltwater system generates. It would be the same as having a saltwater system pool that the saltwater system went bad and you just installed an inline chlorinator in the plumbing instead of replacing the saltwater chlorine generator system so you could add chlorine with the tablets.

Can I Mix salt in a chlorine pool?

Yes, you can add salt to a chlorine pool to create a saltwater pool system. This salt is converted into chlorine through the process of electrolysis, providing a more natural and softer water experience compared to traditional chlorine pools. Be sure to follow manufacturer instructions for the appropriate salt levels and use a saltwater generator to convert the salt into chlorine.
