Are Christians today commanded to tithe as those in the OldTestament?

The word denotes a tenth part, given for the service of God. The first recorded instance is the payment made by Abraham to Melchizedek (Gen. 14:20; cf. Heb. 7:4-10). See also Jacob's vow (Gen. 28:22). The law enforced the payment, and provided rules with regard to the use to which the tithe should be put. In Num. 18:21-28 it is directed that tithe be paid to the Levites, who in their turn give one-tenth of what they receive to the priests. A clear exposition of the tithe is given in Mal. 3:8-18, in which it is shown that blessings from the payment of tithing are both temporal and spiritual, and failure to pay an honest tithe is a form of robbery. God only asks for one tenth of our increase to do with as He sees fit. Having paid tithes every week for some 45 years I can testify that I have never ever wanted for anything.

How much is an offering if 10 percent is tithe?

An offering is something over and above the tithe, for those who consider the tithe obligatory, although there are different opinions among Christians as to the obligatory nature of the tithe since it is not mentioned as such in the New Testament. For some who do not believe the tithe obligatory, an offering would be another name for the tithe. In any case, an offering is an indefinite amount whereas the tithe is 10%. So there can be no answer to what the offering may be. Remember Jesus praised the poor widow who gave all she had, even though it was a ''mite'' the smallest possible coin of those days, while He was not complimentary to others who put in large amounts when their heart was not right in terms of motive. So, firstly, one's heart should be right about how to give and then any amount can be given at any time. Most importantly, as outlined in the New Testament God wants our whole heart first as a ''living sacrifice'' or offering to Him.

What is a church tithes?

A church tithe is 10% of your (gross) income (your increase). This is the portion which is due to God. An offering, on the other hand, is an amount over and above the tithe.Additional Info:The above is what is typically taught in many churches. However, paying 10 percent of your income to a church is not biblical.According to the Bible, Christians are not required to pay tithes in any form or fashion. Only ancient Israel was required to pay tithes, and the tithe only consisted agricultural produce - not income. The Bible encourages voluntary, Spirit-led giving among Christians.
