taxes benefit many things example: tv licenses Well a TV lisc may well be a form of tax, but it doesn't benefit from one. Taxes are simply the way the Society, through government, pays for anything the members of society need or want to provide for themselves and others. Some example: Security and defense (the armed services), support for those who can't fend for themselves or need help (disabled, ill, old, etc), medical services for the needy - and research of all types for us all, arts and sciences, education, maintaining public areas and wildlife and preserves/wilderness, public facilities, etc. , etc., etc.


Can federal taxes paid in 2007 for tax year 2006 be deducted for 2007 taxes?

No. Federal taxes are never deductible from Federal taxes! (Even if you paid them the year they were due. Certainly paying them in a later year won't produce a benefit).


Does cooperative society pay withholding tax?

A Cooperative Society does not pay withholding taxes. Withholding taxes are taxes deducted at source from incomes earned by individuals and corporate bodies that are subject to payment of taxes. The taxess so withheld are subsequently deducted from the final tax liabilities of such individuals/corporate bodies. Since Cooperative Societies do not pay taxes on theirprofits it will beimpossible to deduct such withheld taxes and so the Cooperative suffers.
