The properties must be considered first so that it will be able to make the product.
It is the only planet capable of sustaining life
It was just another planet created from rocks colliding, but planet Earth is the perfect distance from the sun to make it not too cold and not too hot. This condition is ideal for life. Earth is the only planet so far discovered to sustain life.
1. To make life more efficient 2. to be able to draw comparisons
It's pretty difficult to tell what the chemical properties of anything are by "looking at it". If you're very familiar with that TYPE of object, you might be able to make a tentative identification of the material based on its appearance, and use your memorized knowledge of that material to predict its likely chemical properties, but that's about as good as you're going to be able to do without doing something a little more active than just looking at it.
To sustain life on Earth
We don't know. Some of the planetary bodies discovered outside of our own solar system hint that they might be able to support life, and the number of stars and probable planetary systems on a universe-wide basis make the existence of at least simple life elsewhere seem probable. But I end as I began. We don't know, at this point.
The earth has several factors that allow it to sustain life while its sister planets cannot. The most important of which is its location from the Sun. Earth lies within the "Goldilocks Zone" which is a distance from a star that allows for proper temperatures to maintain life. Deviation too far in either distance can make it too hot, or too cold, to sustain life.
The weather is so hot in Death Valley, life cannot be sustained there.

If you have a situation where you were able to change someone's life and how did that make you feel?
only a few chemosynthetic bacteria sustain their life without sunlight
All plants make their own food through photosynthesis; converting energy from the sun into plant energy to sustain their life.

Sulfur is a component in several amino acids and is involved in determing their secondary bonding when they make proteins.
