Yule Day is the Scottish word for Christmas. Yuletide is the celebration of Christmas and New Year. The word comes from Scandinavia where 'Yultid' was the festival celebrated at the twelfth month. Odin was supposed to come to earth in December, disguised in a hooded cloak. He would sit at the firesides listening to the people, and where there was need he left a gift of coins or bread. Christmas was often known as Nollaig Beag meaning Little Christmas. The custom was to celebrate the Birth of Christ, the New Year, and Twelfth Night.
You can say it exactly like that in Scotland.
However, New Year is traditionally referred to as Hogmanay in Scotland so you could say: Merry Christmas and Happy Hogmanay!
