Christmas is meant to celebrate the birthday of Jesus Christ: The Son of God, even though it is not the actual day of his birth. Most commonly, people do this by getting together with their families and exchanging gifts.

Many non-religious people still celebrate as a tradition, even if they may or may not believe that Jesus was in fact the Messiah.

Different people celebrate in many different ways. The day before Christmas: Christmas Eve, is often used to exchange small gifts while larger, or more expensive gifts are saved until Christmas Day.

Some people do not celebrate Christmas at all, usually because of an opposing religion or belief.
