tigers usaully protect themselves by fighting with there sharp claws or leaving territorial marks to tell other animals "go away!".
The white tigers protection is the same as a normal tiger - i.e. teeth and claws. the only difference being the colour (or lack of colour) of their fur. So they probably stick out alot more than most tigers in the grass would.
As an added bonus though, white tigers tend to be slightly larger meaning that where they may be disadvantaged it actually has a slightly better advantage which is probably a little more helpful anyway.
