They hunt in packs
Wolves may hunt singly or form packs that work together to rout or their ambush prey. Wolves mostly prey on rabbits, rodents, and birds, and often go after old or young animals that are weak and easier to capture. When no live prey is available, they will also feed on dead animals, insects, and berries.
Wolves are pack animals which means they live in a group. To get food wolves hunt together and eat other animals. They normally search for older animals that are wounded or sick because they are easier to take down. They also avoid killing young animals because killing babies would mean eliminating future food. They work together to chase their prey and take it down.
Wolves catch their food by many various ways. I'll use Elk. Elks always travel in herds with the cows (female) in the middle with the young lings (calves) and the bull (male) guarding them. The Wolves also never hunt alone and travel what is called "packs" they first go into their hunting position which is their tail straight out at the spine level. They use a strategy to look out from afar and find out the youngest, oldest, or a sick elk and then they run out to get their meal. They scatter about so there is nothing the herd could do and one of the wolves separate one of the cows from the rest of the herd. Wolves then use teamwork and follow the elk and uses its claws fangs...etc. Once the animal is defeated their team spirit is broken and they fight for their part of the meal and they dig it in the ground for later servings so Coyotes or other scavengers won't find it or at least make it harder for them to find the leftovers anyways. Hope this helps!!! :) Use this
They wait for their prey to run, and they have amazing endurance so they can run until the prey is tired but not always, then they all go after one and bite the prey to injure it then kill it.
But they wouldn't kill a human. Unless they have rabies.

Wolves and coyotes may compete for some of the same food. No wolves equals more food for coyotes. More food equals more coyotes.
