Jack up the car front end. If you have just one jack, use it on the left (drivers) side. Secure the car with jack stand(s). The drain plug is on the right (passenger) side of the oil pan. Place a pan that will hold a minimum of 5 quarts under the drain plug and towards the right tire as the oil will come out in an arc.
Remove the drain plug 16mm socket or equal. Allow all of the oil to drain. Put the plug in finger tight.
Move the oil pan under the oil filter. Left front of the engine. There is a channel to it through the struts. A filter wrench may be necessary. Allow the oil to drain. Clean the filter mating surface on the engine with a clean rag.
Spread a bit of oil on the rubber gasket on the new filter. Coat the whole gasket. Screw the filter in FINGER tight. Do NOT use the filter wrench. Stop turning a quarter turn after the gasket first mates with the engine surface. The filter is now installed.
Move the pan back under the plug and remove it again and allow the oil to finish draining.
Clean the area around the plug hole and replace the plug. Tighten with the wrench.
Remove the pan, jack stands and lower the car to the ground.
Remove the oil fill cap on the right side in the engine compartment. Put in 5 quarts of new oil 5w-30. replace cap.
Recycle used oil and clean any drips around the fill cap.
