On page 35 of the door opener user manual, it states:

1. Press and release the 'learn' button on the motor unit. (by the sensitivity adjust ) The learn indicator will glow steady for 30 seconds.

2. Within 30 seconds, press and hold the button on the hand held remote that you wish to operate your garage door.

3. Release the button when the motor unit lights blink. It has learned the code. If light bulbs are not installed, two clicks will be heard.

The remote control itself is not programmable. Each remote has an ID that is transmitted to the opener when a button is pushed. If the opener recognizes the ID, it will perform the command. If you lost a remote control and worry about if it may fall into the wrong hand, you can clear all the previously programmed remote control IDs by pushing the "learn" button for about six seconds. When the amber LED is off, the memory has been cleared. In order for any remote control to work again, you will need to have the opener relearn each of them as described above.

This way the lost remote control will longer work on your garage door opener.

The neat thing about this kind of remote is that the remote can work with multiple garage door openers.

There are 2 ways to program a remote to open a garage door. 1 if the opener uses dip switches, open the cover and see if it has a row of switches that can be put into 1 of 3 positions, if so just make the remote match the opener. 2 the opener will have a " learn " button on it, press it and then press the button on the remote and it will learn your remote signal.
