The reason is that they typically associate that kind of "talk" with people who aren't good partners. Parents want their kids to find someone who is going to be successful, ambitious, and add value to their kids life. I am not saying that hood talk means you can't add value to someone's life etc, but it can be associated with many people who do not have the best intentions. I would suggest trying to speak more appropriately at least around the parents, as a sign of respect.
