(Windows) In the application data folder you can add the following line to "Preferences.ini":

Themeaccess=LEGOuniverse

The Preference.ini file is located at C:\Documents And Settings\UserName\ApplicationData\Lego Company\Lego Digital Designer\preferences.ini for XP users, or C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\LEGO Company\LEGO Digital Designer\preferences.ini for Vista or 7 users.

If you cannot find the application data folder, this is most likely because it is hidden. To enable hidden folders, click on tools, and go to "Folder Options". Click the view tab, and scroll down until you find a line titled "hidden files and folders". Ensure the box that says "Show hidden files and folders" is checked, and you should be able to view the application data folder.

NOTE: You can alternatively access the application data folder by going to "Run" (Windows Key plus "R") and typing in %appdata% and clicking "Okay".

(Macintosh) Accessing LDD's universe mode in a mac is just like accessing it in windows, aside from the fact the "Preferences.ini" file is located in a different directory.

Add Themeaccess=LEGOuniverse to /User/Library/Application Support/LEGO Company/LEGO Digital Designer/preferences.ini.

NOTE: Be sure to exit out of LDD before adding the line to "Preferences.ini" in order to access the Universe mode in either Macintosh or Windows.

LEGO Universe mode is currently able to be unlocked in the latest digital designer version (4.0.0), but will most likely be patched in coming updates as the actual LEGO Universe game begins to hit shelves.
