If you have friends on facebook that play FarmVille, this can enable you to have the opportunity to adopt animals if they publish it to the feed. When browsing FarmVille, occasionally a pop up window will come saying an animal has been wondering on their farm and needs a home. If they choose to publish this, it should appear on your news feed where you can then click 'Adopt animal!' (or a button similar to this). However, if someone else takes the adopted animal before you, you cannot not adopt it.
