Float valve is a device used on swimming pools. It is designed to keep the skimmer closed and to control the air flow into the pump when the water level gets low.
The pool water level will correspond roughly to the centerline of the float. So raising the float height raises the water level and vice versa. The float and its short rod connect to the float valve with a small 'wing' nut or screw. Using a small pair of pliers, carefully loosen this screw a bit until the float/rod pivots freely up and down on the valve assembly. Reposition it where you would like it, and retighten the screw. (No need to overtighten--just snug so the float is fixed to the valve portion.) It may take a couple of days for the level to adjust; then go back and readjust the float if needed. I would not 'bend the rod', as some have suggested, as the rod on this type of float is usually very short and doing so will likely break off the float or damage the valve.
The Skimmer apparatus helps take the objects that float on top of the water out of the Pool before thay have a chance to sink.
There is no filter at the bottom of a pool. Perhaps you are looking at the hydrostatic valve which is there in case your pool is emptied and Will make sure that the pool wont float in ground water.
Yes and no. One hole, the one to the rear of the skimmer goes directly to the pump. This also acts as your vacuum hose port for vacuuming the pool. The other comes up from the main drain. Covering both of those ports should be a float valve type of an assembly. One of the purposes of the float valve is that when and if the water level gets too low in the pool then the float in the valve assy. seats and will then let water flow in to the pump directly from the main drain. Hope this is satisfactory. Ken
This is the hydrostatic valve. If the pool is emptied it is removed to relieve water pressure caused by the surrounding water table If not removed a pool can float out of the ground.
To drain a pool properly and efficiently, locate the drain valve at the bottom of the pool and attach a hose to it. Make sure the hose is long enough to reach a safe drainage area. Open the valve and let the water drain slowly to avoid damaging the pool structure. Monitor the water level and adjust the flow as needed. Once the pool is drained, close the valve and remove the hose.
First of all if the water table it too high you do not want to drain at all for your pool will act like a boat and float up out of the ground. If you are going to empty and refill rather quickly say 3 days or less. In the main drain of your pool there is a check valve that allows ground water to seep into the pool so when the water table gets to high your pool don't float. The valve is a one way valve that pops up when ground water is refilling your pool.Put a brick or something heavy over the valve to prevent it from opening and pump out your pool.Be sure to refill pool soon. If the ground on the outside of the pool is is reasonably wet you may find that water will seep into the pool where it leaks. Be careful with an empty pool ground water can make them float up and out of position if you do not have a hydrostatic valve in the bottom.
is there a hydrostatic valve in the bottom? These are designed to let ground water into the pool to avert the pool starting to float it way out of the ground. Once that hapens you are in big trouble.
You have to be careful about emptying any in-ground pool. Normally they have a hydrostatic valve in the deepest part of the pool in case there is ground water built up around the outside of the pool. If there is the valve will allow ground water into the pool. if there isn't there is a good chance that the pool will start to float in the ground water. In effect the only thing you have to worry about is that there is no water under the pool if there is you will need to find a way of getting rid of it before emptying the pool.
