2003 Mercury Marquis rear brake discs will not come loose Have removed the calipers and used solvent heat and hammer on the discs and they will not come off the hub Is there something else I need do?

I suspect these brakes have the drum brake still in the center but are much smaller than you've seen before. This is used for the parking brake. I'm sure you had the parking brake off in this exersize. Anyway you need to back off on the adjustors inside the rear parking brake drum. A brake tool or a good screwdriver will work. One direction tightens the drum and the other loosens it. Also need to adjust it back out after reassembly to minimize travel when applying the parking brake. But not to where it drags against the drum. Woody ANSWER 2 Like the guy said his 2003 Merc has disc brakes, not drums. I'm about to do a brake job on my 2003 Merc Marquis. I'll let you know! Tom
