you fix it
adjust timing 4.3 V8 engine
the hole is good
It doesn't have a timing belt. It has a timing chain.
That requires a OBDII engine scanner. You can not use a timing light. The timing is computer controlled.
On a Ford Explorer : The 1996 to 2001 , 5.0 litre V8 engine has ( 1 timing CHAIN ) The 2002 and newer , 4.6 litre V8 engine has ( 1 timing CHAIN to each cylinder head , so there are 2 timing CHAINS )
The 1996 Ford 5.0 liter engine timing marks can be found on the main pulley. The timing marks will be scattered around the outside of the pulley.
if it is a 4.6 v8 you dont it is controled by the ecm
behind the timing cover, timing chains, ans remove the bottom timing gear and there she is
pull and plug vacuum line to spark computer, adjust timing
The 4.6 litre V8 engine in a 1996 Lincoln Continental has ( 2 ) timing CHAINS * 1 timing CHAIN to each cylinder head
On a 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis : The 4.6 litre SOHC , V8 engine has ( 1 timing CHAIN to each cylinder head , so it has 2 timing CHAINS )
To adjust the distributor for setting the timing on a 'SD1 V8 engine', first, ensure the engine is at the correct timing mark, usually at TDC (top dead center) on the compression stroke for cylinder number one. Loosen the distributor hold-down clamp and rotate the distributor slightly while observing the timing light or the timing marks on the engine. Adjust until the desired timing specification is met, then tighten the hold-down clamp securely. Finally, recheck the timing to ensure it hasn't shifted during tightening.
