I never tried it, but the magnets on the maglev should face opposite to the magnets on the track. If u face north downwards in the maglev, then u'll have to face the north upwards in the track.

What type of train uses magnets?

The maglev train floats over its track using an electromagnet. Maglev trains have managed speeds in excess of 370mph. A model of the maglev train uses two permanent magnets to get the model to float over the track.Describe how the magnets must be arranged to get the model Maglev Train to float.

How does a maglev train go?

it uses magnets

How does a maglev run?

A Maglev (magnetic Levitation) runs in a new technology. Maglev work by magnets. There are large rotating magnets built onto the sides of the track and train. This causes the Maglevs to levitate. This is possible by electromagnetic suspension.

Does it make a difference which way the magnets are placed on the maglev train?

Yes. The "magnets" are not conventional magnets, like the ones you may use at home, on a maglev train. Their position and control of them is extremely critical for train operation so these are engineered to only be installed and function in one way.

What is the purpose of a maglev train?

Speed! They levitate using magnets so indeed they fly above the tracks and are not in contact with the track. Magnets levitation...hence maglev. Cos they do not encounter friction, hence they can have high speeds of about 400km/h

How do they make the magnets so strong for the Maglev train?

Lots of electricity ... which takes power.

What does the term Maglev stand for?

"Maglev" stands for "Magnetic Levitation". It is a method of powerful magnets to levitate a train on tracks and allow its high-speed movement upon them.

Where is the electromagnet in a maglev train?

the electromagnet is in the track then there are permanent magnets on the very bottom of the train on the part that wraps around the track

Why does the maglev wind turbine save energy?

The use of magnets means that the movement is frictionless, so more energy can be generated.

What is the MAGLEV system?

The MAGLEV system is a train that runs on magnets. The train hoovers on magnets that force a way from each other. The ride would be safer than a normal train and run smoother. They are not used in the US because cities are far apart. They more commonly used in countries with cities close together.

How does a maglev train move forward?

Magnets attract or repel (opposite poles attract: like poles repel), and electro-magnets can be turned on and off, or have their poles reversed, in an instant. So magnets are used instead of engines in a maglev train. There are two kinds of Maglev systems:EMS - ElectroMagnetic Suspension (Germany and China) - "pull" system. Magnets in the train are pulled forward by magnets in the track which are turned on just before the train arrives, and turned off as soon as the train is on top of them.EDS - ElectroDynamic Suspension (Japan) - "pull, neutral, push" system. Superconducting magnets in the train are pulled forward by track magnets. When the train is over the track magnet the track switches to neutral, then to the opposite polarity. So the magnet behind the train then pushes it forward.by massive magnets !

What relies on magnets for movement?

Electric motors rely on magnets for movement. They have both stationary magnets and rotating electromagnets that interact to produce motion. Additionally, maglev trains use magnets to levitate above the tracks and move without friction.
