Answer it honestly. If you are willing to work the night shift, answer yes. If you are not willing, answer no. Of course, if you prefer to work the night shift, be sure to tell the interviewer that. If you have good reasons for not wanting to work the night shift, tell the interviewer the reasons.

The people who work from 11 PM or Midnight until 6 or 8 AM. Also called the graveyard shift.
no, but undertakers do (so I guess yes) If they work in a cemetery, then technically, ALL shifts are graveyard shifts. Duh! (Note: "The graveyard shift" started a long time ago when you couldn't be sure somebody was dead. They put a string in the coffin and a bell at the top so that if the "dead" man wakes up he can pull the string. At night there is a man patrolling the cemetery to see if any bells will ring. This is called the graveyard shift. That is where the term came from.)

graveyard work shift usually starts 11:00 PM OR MIDNIGHT and ends after 8 - 9 hours. It is called graveyard because it is as dead as a graveyard during those hours. What I was told was that the origin of the 'graveyard shift' is not called 'graveyard' because it's so quiet. It was from around the 19th century when it was revealed that people were being buried alive. In response to this problem they would tie a string to the dead person's hand and the string would go up to the headstone where it was attached to a bell and a person was assigned to be on the cemetary grounds during the night after the burial to make sure that the bell did not ring. If the bell did ring then they would unbury the person. Another thought was that a person would be assigned to watch over the cemetary at night to deter grave robbers.
Unfortunately not in most cases. The employer's and most North American labour law's theory is that when you lose the hour, you'll make it back up at the other end of daylight savings time, when you gain the hour. In my experience, this rarely works out that way, and is the reason I refuse to work on that particular shift.
