It's spelled "ni hao" in Pinyin(你好)
Ni means you and hao means good. It is a common chinese greeting, implying someone is good(such as having a good day). All you need to do is say it back if someone greets you with it. However, if they add "ma", saying "ni hao ma?" Or 你好嗎, they are asking if you are good, such as "How are you?" Because ma implies they are asking a question. If they do ask that, you should say "Hao. Ni ne?" Or 好你呢. This implies, "Good. What about you?" Hao means good, ni means you, and ne, like ma, implies something similar to asking a question. I think(?) it is usually used to ask a question back or something. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Just say it back; it just meens hello.
It's spelled "ni hao," by the way.
