Skills are of two kinds. One is the Hard Skills and the other is the Soft Skills. Hard skills are those skills that you are knowledgeable about and help you in quantitative and qualitative outputs. For example: in the soft ware industry, let us say an individual with 'C' programming language is brilliant and hence could write absolutely fantastic code..then s/he has great C skills. But this code writer has problems with dealing with others then this person has very bad 'soft skills'. A first grade automobile engineer can build a car from scratch but cannot make the team deliver a 'model' to a deadline could be a person with great hard skills but may be lacking soft skills. Similarly, some one with very bad academic grades need not be a failure in life. Because s/he is quite good at soft skills. May be this person is a great 'people' person would be able to get along well and usually leaves everyone around smiling. So when you have to mention your skills ..be precise about the technical skills that you are bringing into the job and the qualitative difference that you would be making to the team or your colleagues and or clients would be you soft skills. ∙ 11y agoThe best way to list skills on your job application is to add them as skills under the employer where you may have gained that skill. This is very helpful on a resume, because employers can not only see that you have the skill they are looking for, but by placing under the employer for which you worked and gained that experience, it will give the HR manager or Hiring manager a good idea of how much experience you may have with that particular skill set.
Some Job Applications will have a list of skill sets you can choose from. Other applications will just have a big blank space. But again, if there is room to list that particular skill or skills under the job that you held where those skills were obtained or increased, it is better to list it there than just listing it in some big long list. A big long list is where an employer has to guess how you obtained or used that skill, or guess how much experience you actually have with that particular skill set. Don't leave them guessing!
