You can not ask somone else why you broke up, you have to figure it out for yourself if the other person is unwilling to tell you.
It could be any of a long list of things, depending on the person you were with and the situation you were in.
However, if people are asking you why you broke up with someone, you don't need to tell them any more than you want. If you don't want to tell them anything at all, just politely remind them that it's none of their business. Keep in mind, however, that if your friends see that you're hurt by the breakup, they could just be asking so they can figure out how best to help you. Also, if you're confused about why the breakup happened, talking to someone else can help you figure it out. They might have a different perspective on the whole affair, perhaps they noticed some flaws in the relationship that you either missed or refused to see.
