Fabric paint can be applied with brushes. Most of the fabric paints commercially available are opaque, which means they will work over any fabric including denim. You may have to apply several coats in order to get the look you are after.
It is very easy to apply fabric paint to fabric. It can be done directly out of most fabric paint tubes, as they usually come with pointed tops for easy application. It can also be used by pouring it into a dish and using a sponge to apply it to the fabric. Some people use different shaped sponges, like squares, stars, leaf shapes to stamp the paint on. You can also use a standard paint brush.
The answer depends on the width of the fabric which has not bee mentioned. There are a number of standard widths.
To make fabric waterproof using fabric stiffener, you can apply multiple layers of the stiffener to the fabric and allow it to dry completely. This will create a protective barrier on the fabric that repels water.

If you've ever worked with wallpaper, the same calculations will apply. You will need to know the height and width of your wall. For the sake of simplicity, we'll assume your wall is 9 ft high (3 yards) and 12 ft wide. Next, we'll assume that you've chosen fabric that is 60" wide. Since 60 inches = 5 ft, you'll need 3 strips of fabric 3 yards long each to cover the wall completely (9 yards). If you're going to tack the fabric in place, you'll want to cover the outside edges of the fabric with ribbon or some other decorative trim. You'll need to purchase 2x the width of the wall (2 x 12ft = 24 ft = 8 yards) + 2x the height of the wall (2 x 9ft = 18 ft = 6 yards). For our theoretical wall, you'll need 14 yards (plus a little for overlapping; maybe add 1 ft). To be certain your project will work, I suggest you take the measurements of your wall with you to the fabric store and discuss your design ideas with the customer service person. They should be able to help you with the calculations.

You can effectively stick fabric to fabric by using fabric glue or iron-on adhesive tape. Simply apply the adhesive to the fabric, press the two pieces together, and allow it to dry or set according to the product instructions. This will create a strong bond between the fabrics.
You can tape or thumb-tack a large piece of flannel to your wall, and then pieces of fabric will "stick" to it. If the fabric is too heavy to stay up, you can pin it to the flannel.
To apply fabric to wood effectively, you can use a strong adhesive like wood glue or a staple gun to secure the fabric in place. Make sure to smooth out any wrinkles or bubbles for a neat finish. You can also consider using a primer or sealant on the wood before applying the fabric to ensure better adhesion.
