In many species of fish there are water parameters that have to be provided in order for the eggs to develop. These can be variations in water temperature, pH, GH, age of the water, colour of the water etc. In some cases the warmer the water the quicker they develop but it is also possible that in some species the ova (eggs) can be killed by water that is too warm.
