They conquered worlds in the universe by killing all inhabitants and then sold the planet to the highest bidder. When Frieza heard about their near limitless power, he destroyed the planet leaving only Goku, Vegeta(the son of the king of the sayins), Trunks, Raditz(gokus brother), and several others.
