Once you get to the hole, place a Drawbridge over it so you can cross over it. Kill the bats by chopping them with a Sword (or dropping a Sword over them), and go right until the Starite appears.
Action: To find out if the animals are rabid, get close to them and see if they attack you. If they do, they are rabid. Don't worry, you won't die in a single hit.
Or you could just kill the ones I say to;

The Tetra to the right
The Eagle
Kill them by either dropping a Mine (Weapon) next to it and waiting for the animal to walk on it, or going up to them by either swimming with a Scuba and flying with Wings, and hitting them with a Shovel. The Shovel is also used to dig through the underwater wall.
Once you are done killing the three, go back to where you started off the level to see the barrier blocking the Starite has been raised.
