While it might seem otherwise, Kidz Bop is serious showbusiness. It is a job, and sometimes a very physically demanding one.
Can you sing? That's great, but you should know that most of the tracks on the Kidz Bop CDs are sung by young-sounding adults.
Can you act or dance? That's better, and probably preferred over singing. The company needs people for its videos and touring companies to lip sync along with pre-recorded tracks.
Do you have experience? I hope so. Have a commercial or two under your belt (regional is good, national is better), photo shoots, verifiable acting or dancing background. Given the ages involved, it doesn't have to be THAT substantial, but you should have something that shows you can perform.
Do you live in or near a major production center like Los Angeles or New York? No matter how good you are, I can guarantee you that there are at least a few hundred kids just as good or better who are local to those areas who'll get seen first.
Sure, you might win one of their contests, but that's a very, very long shot and you'll still be regarded as an amateur, so you won't really get spotlighted, more used as a marketing tool for the company to say "See! We do hire real kids!" But there's no harm in trying!
Please don't think I'm discouraging you. Send in that tape, you never know what'll happen. And if you don't have experience, there are lots of regional and local theater companies and other ways to get involved with acting and singing, and who knows where that'll take you. Everyone has to start somewhere!
