If you want your sim to be an officer, like a police officer you'll have to get them a job in the law enforcement career. You can find this job by the newspaper, which your mail carrier should bring everyday. You can also find this job on the computer. If you don't, don't worry. Just go to map view and you should see a police department. Click on that and their should be an option that lets you get a job. If you can't find the police department, then just keep checking the newspapers and computer every day for new jobs. Eventually, your law enforcement job should be available.
