How do you become cold hearted?

You become cold-hearted when you go through a number of experiences that just deteriorate your perspective of everyone around you. Ex. a woman who has been cheated on many times, AND NOW looks at all men as pigs. Another example, A man who has been so confined in never showing his emotions may appear cold hearted towards his children. Another way to be cold hearted is if you are a sociopath and this is basically where you are antisocial by choice, you prefer to be alone and shun everyone that tries to come near you.
