It's really quite easy to break a coping saw accidentaly by putting too much pressure on the blade or moving it the wrong way. Luckily, blades are cheap.
To hold the blade and tension it..
Hack saw, coping saw.
first you push the coping saw on the table by the handle until the blade pops out then, put the blade through a hole then put the blade back together then tighten the retaining pins then tighten the handle and then your ready to saw away.
We use the coping saw as a hand saw, so it is pretty easy to control the saw. If you use the coping saw, you can feel that the coping saw is very easy to control,the saw can basically cut any shapes. Some machines are very hard to cut curves with on plastic, but not this one because the coping saw just follows where you go, you are controlling the angle of the blade of the coping saw.
Unscrew the handle to relive the tension on the saw. Remove the old blade, hook the new blade over the pins on the saw and tighten the handle back up.

So that it will cut on the downstroke.
It is approximately 1/32 inch thick.
The blade is the most dangerous part of the saw so don't put your hand near it!!!
because it losen the blade if it was the other way.
The handle unscrews which releases the tension on the blade. There is a pin through each end of the blade that slips into a notch in each end of the handle.
the handle is usually made out of wood , the blade and frame are both made out of metal.
