You should think about how bad you really want to break up with him first. My suggestion, is wait until the new year. This makes the guy not seem depressed right before Christmas. If the relastionship between you two is abusive, or thing along that, or it is a really bad relationship, tell him that you are not ready to go on. Tell him you don't feel ready.
