Unless you are snorkelling near the surface, breathing through a tube, or breathing from a tank of compressed air, you can't biologically breath water - unless you suddenly grew fish gills.

You can't breathe underwater in any case, but having strong muscles for breathing will help you hold your breath for a longer time. It isn't so much as mutation but a matter of being physically strong.
