It depends on the species - Madagascar (grey-headed) and red-headed differ in colour between the sexes. All other species are nominally identical. Experienced keepers/breeders can usually sex them by shape/size/nature and/or by the width between the pelvic bone (the wish-bone). Failing that, DNA or surgical sexing is required.
first, make sure you have a male and female love bird. Then buy a lovebird nest and nesting material. Wait...wait...wait... then one day, eggs!
then wait
Yes, you can mate the same breed of birds. Some popular breeds of birds that are good to breed include canaries, love birds, and parrots.
i am just wanting to know what time of year that lovebirds breed?
Generally yes, although it depends on the breed. Female love birds are usually larger than the males.
No.
Yes they can, but it is not recommended. There are many color mutations in the different Lovebird species, I can see no reason to crossbreed species, when you do you pollute the blood of the different species. These birds get sold and end up with others who unwittingly breed them, the next thing you know it could get hard to get pure birds of a given species. Please don't be part of this problem stay in the species and breed for different colors.
