This can be very involved and dangerous if you don't do it right, they are usually long expanses connected in the middle, (this connection must be strong because it bares all the weight) you can use heavy beams or laminate many boards together to make a beam, the latter is the stronger of the two. Remember, the connection in the middle is critical.
