After thinking about this a bit it has to be on the starter, which is on the lower left side of the engine. I was trying to confuse this with the starter relay which Ford has long mounted up on the fender and makes things easy to locate starting problems. The solenoid is located inside the starter.
The starter on a vehicle is the part that will help trigger the ignition to start the car. The starter in a 1991 Ford Tempo looks like most starters. It is small metal piece that is approximately 2 inches long. You can purchase these from a car parts store or even on eBay.
there are 3 mounting bolts on the starter motor.one is at the yop side of starter and you will need a socket with long extension to get at it PS : if you use a universal joint extension from socket set it will be even easier to get at
Every screwdriver has a handle. You hold the handle and turn it to tighten or loosen a screw. Sometimes your screw might be in a tight place that your hand can't get to such as inside of a car hood. You use a long reach screwdriver because the shaft above the handle is larger than a typical screwdriver. A typical screwdriver shaft is about 5 inches. A long reach screwdriver is bigger. Maybe 12 inches or 2 feet long. It's just a long screwdriver. I can't believe you would as this question
i think a screw into a board a long screwdriver with a narrow handle
Battery may be low on charge or NG. Battery has enough juice to engage starter drive into flywheel but not enough juice to turn engine sufficiently to start so it gets stuck. If it is left in that mode for long it will toast the starter.
There are a bunch of "solenoids" on a typical vehicle, but, the most common usage of the term is in reference to the startersolenoid.Ford starter solenoids have been integrated into the starter unit for a good number of years, including those on the Windstar. So to replace the starter solenoid is to replace the starter.See "Related Questions" below for more about doing just that...After thinking about this a bit it has to be on the starter, which is on the lower left side of the engine. You are probabily thinking of the starter solinoid..? To change that you got to take off the starter and it'll be a round cylinder about 3 to 4 inches long. If your having transmission problems hit me up
That all depends on if you abuse the starter by cranking too long. I have 170,000 on original starter.
It takes the same starter as any pickup, etc, with the same motor. About 4 inches across and 7 ish inches long. Looks like a smaller narrow coffee can. Just follow the large red cable from the battery down to the starter.
Either on the starter (located flywheel/trans area) or mid way between batt & starter if remote mounted (Done sometimes to protect from heat off of exhaust manifolds.). if you have 2 positive batt. cables, solenoid is in between, If you have only 1 long one, it is at the end of the cable on your starter.
Disconnect the battery. Turn key to on, stick a long screwdriver through a hole in the bottom of the steering column and pull out the entire key cylinder
