Best Answer

vf 2 = vi 2 + 2ad

vf is the speed after collision in your case it's 0. vi is initial speed, a is constant acceleration (in your case it's negative), and d is distance traveled with the acceleration a. Thus we have.

a =vi 2/2d

So the force is

F = ma = mvi 2/2d

How does pressure relate to depth?

Pressure = force / area, but > Force (weight) of water = mass * acceleration > Select a depth, choose an area the weight of water is acting on ( say 1 square inch ) calculate the force (weight) of the water column above that area (in pounds) Divide force by area = pressure (pounds per square inch (psi)) Dont forget to add atmospheric pressure (psi) to the answer.

How do you convert an impact value of 300 Joules into a static force?

Measure (or guess) what the distance , OR the time is in which the falling object (assuming that is the source of energy) will come to a rest.Then use the equation Energy = Force x Distanceto calculate the average force during the impact. In real life the force wil not decrease linearly, depending on a lot of factors.

It depends on what else you know. If you know the mass and can measure the acceleration, you can use that to calculate force, but there are other ways to calculate force.
