Feed the baby rat with a dropper. Can be an eye dropper or infant medicine dropper, available at your local pharmacy. Feed them human infant formula, or purchase infant dog or cat formula at your local pet store. Make sure not to get any food into their nostrils as that will cause them to aspirate. Feed every couple hours. In addition, you must wake up at least once overnight to feed them or they will die (ex: midnight, 3:30am, 7am). Make sure the little ones are kept warm. You can place their box on a heating pad set to LOW. Give them lots of bedding (towel, old t-shirt, etc.) and close the box with a lid to keep the heat in. Stimulate their private part to get them to urinate by rubbing it with a paper towel, cotton ball, etc. with very warm water on it. If you wash the babies, make sure the water is warm, that you don't get any in their ears, and that you dry them sufficiently so they don't get cold. Good Luck!
uh.. hi i have a hairless baby rat and i dont have any formula can i feed it regular rat food? please write back
You don't. The mother takes care of her young. If you touch them, she will reject them, and that's how you end up in the situation you are now. If you found it in the wild, take it to a humane society. Tell them how you found it, and where it was. They will take care of it. Hope this helps.
Some simple points are...
Provide a secure enclosure - one that other pets can't get into !
Fresh food and water every day
Clean bedding every day - this will reduce the natural odour of the rats urine.
Provide hard (but palatable) objects for the rat to gnaw on - their teeth grow continually - they need to chew to wear down their teeth.
Change the cage around periodically - rats are natural explorers - rearranging the cage 'furniture' will provide stimulation for the rat.
Oh - and make sure you know where your local vet is - in case you need one !
well, you can keep them if you want to. it would be sad if you would kill them. they are just babies so you better take care of them
it is probably because the hog is sick or it is dying.
According to Pigs4ever.com piglets are born with eyes open(unlike cats and dogs).
but nothing to back this up. I have also found reference.
Yes you can, but it depends if the mom cat trusts you enough to let you hold her babies at that young age.
I have two birds and when they had babies they would shut their eyes a lot. It means that they are tired from doing something. In my birds case it was because they were exhausted from taking care of 4 baby birds. I suggest that you identify something that would make your birds tired and have them not do that anymore.
their eyes need to be open and yes, they eat a piece of lettuce every second.
