How do you feed a blind chicken?

You need some type of chicken coop for your chicken to be able to go into at night so that he or she is protected from predators, such as skunks, possums, coyotes, etc. The chicken will also need a roosting bar in the chicken coop. Make sure the chicken coop is well ventilated. Use bedding inside of it such as straw and be sure to clean it out once a week & replace with fresh clean straw. The chicken needs access at all times to fresh clean water. You also need to go to the Feed store to purchase some chicken feed. I find the granulated pellets are the best plus I also offer them the corn mixture. You can also feed some small amounts of fresh greens. You will need to purchase a waterer and a feeder so that the chicken cannot make a mess in the feeder or waterer. If you have a hen and she is old enough to lay eggs, then you need to put a nesting box inside of the chicken coop, can use a regular cardboard box with some fresh straw in it and put it so the side so there is some privacy. Cut down the front of the box so the chicken can get inside of it to lay her eggs. You need to pick up the eggs each day.

Feed the chicken in a confined space, having the food in the same location all the time. It needs water, too, more than food. Never give it food without water. Keep water full even if the food is not. At first, take the beak and put it in food and in the water. You might have to do this really often at first. But, do this at least 6 times a day for the first day or so, or until it catches on. Give the blind chicken food chopped smaller piece of lettuce about 1" x 3 " is not too large. Chickens given a cabbage leaf will peck and sling the head. So, the chicken might lose its food. However, watch and see what happens when a large piece of food is given. If it can locate food after slinging it away, maybe it can handle eating from a large piece of bread or other food.
