According to the Canadian Red Cross, you should follow a "Check, Call, Care" sequence.

Check to make sure that the scene is safe before approaching the person. Also check to ensure that the airway is clear, that the person is breathing, and that they have a pulse.

Call 911 if you are alone, if there is another person near you have them call 911 and tell them to get an AED (Automated External Defibrillator).

Care for the injured person by performing CPR or rescue breathing if necessary.
