Well, the "golden fish" could be the dorado, or you could be a loser and hack and totally destroy all of the fun in the game. To catch the dorado, use the fishing rod. Hint: they are in the rivers.

∙ 13y agoThere's a goldfish...in the river...there's not really a golden fish but there's a gold fish trophy if you win the Fishing Tournament. If you mean rare fish, ...(flashes back to Animal Crossing Gamecube)...there's a Colecanth (fossil fish in ocean) and a Arapaima (biggest fish in Animal Crossing in the river and is REALLY noticeable...big as the river).
There is a fish in animal crossing wild world that when you catch it it is referred to as "a golden fish" it is called a Dorado, i caught one at around 8pm early July in the waterfall area. It has a pretty big shadow about as big as the sea bass shadow. It sold for 15,000 bells.
