How do you catch a record label's attention?

Make money. A record label needs money to survive so they need to make sure the artists that they sign are able to make money right away. Most people just sit around and send demos out and that's it. The way the industry is today, 99,9% of all of those people will still be sitting around sending demos in a few years. Start recording real albums, and selling them. Start booking shows, and keep booking them as frequently as possible. If labels see that you are selling a lot of records and bringing a lot of people in to your shows then you have proven your worth in the market. This way, even if the labels don't come to you, you are still making money off of what you sell and when you perform. It wont be a lot, but it's better than nothing.
