How do you catch a legendary in Pokemon diamond?

Also you would need practicly every version of a game, like, for example, if you have Diamond, you cannot catch Palkia, which you can only find in Pearl versions.

the first legendary is dialga. how to catch it is after you've got 7 gym badges, gothrough a really hard maze in mt. coronet from oreburgh city (you'll need the tms rock smash, strength, rock climb, surf, maybe defog) u have to fight 2 galactic grunts, mars and Jupiter and their boss. dialga is easy to catch. the others are azelf, uxie, mesprit, you find them in caverns in lake acuity, verity and valor. they are exceptionally hard to catch. u can only get them once you've got dialga. after you've got the national dex there's heatran (stark mountain - only accesable after the elite four and national dex) and giratina in spring path below veilstone. you can only go in the spring path after you've got the national dex. hope i helped!!

you can, but is very hard to catch since there's only one of them. Ultra-balls, Timer balls and master are normally prefered to catch them.

Right now the easiest way to catch a a legendary without master ball is to make the legendary pokemon have a tiny bit ofHP and putting it sleep and spam ultra/timer balls
