How do you know what size bike to get?

User Avatar

Asked by Issierocks

First, you have to decide what type of riding you are going to do.

Road Riding: Fast, mainly for exercise, and self accomplishment. Includes climbing, descending, sprinting, spinning, and flat land riding. Always on the road, sometimes in traffic. Bike would include 20-27 'speeds'. Weight range is anywhere from as low as 15lbs to 25lbs; tires are just centimeters wide. The lighter the better, but more expensive.

Triathalon: Similar to road bikes, but steeper geometry, and more streamlined bike. The bike is made for long sprints typically 25km, all flat. Bike is made to go FAST.

Track Riding: Fast! On an oval track, usually made from wood, sometimes from concrete. Bike is called a fixed gear bike (wheels move, means pedals/cranks move). Usually no brakes, sometimes front brake. Braking is done by resisting the crank/pedal rotations with your legs. Bikes have only one gear, usually fairly low and steep geometry.

Cyclocross: The cross between a Mountain Bike, and a road bike. Essentially a road bike, with slightly larger tires with knobs, and more durable components. Riding is done in the hills, over obstacles, and through mud. Half the race is spent off the bike running due to weather conditions, and technicallity of course.

Mountain Biking:

Cross Country (XC): Similar to road riding, but done on a mountain bike. Always on dirt, over rocks, roots, and other obstacles. Bike typically are of hardtail form (no rear suspension) or have 3-4 inches of suspension. Usually weigh in around 20-28lbs. Tire size is typically 1.95" to 2.1". Steep geometry, almost of that of a road bike, to aid in climbing. This makes the bike a little bit more "Twitchy".

Downhill (DH): Bikes are made to do exactly what it says, go downhill. The most mental aspect of cycling. The riders decend usually at ski resorts, with lift assist. Trails consist of the most challenging terrain, from large rocks, boulders, roots, drops, jumps, fast wide open sections, shale rock. Riders attempt to decend these trails as fast as possible, while staying in one piece, and not crashing. Bikes are around 38-50lbs, and have 6-10 inches of suspension. Tire sizes range from 2.3" to 3".Bikes are the durable to withstand abuse from terrain ridden. Super slack geometry to aid in absorbing impacts, steep terrain, and more stability.

Freeride (FR): Bikes that fit into this category are made to literally take a beating. While still able to be pedaled up, these bikes are made to take large drops, large jumps, and ride slower, technical terrain. Riders typically shuttle by driving a vehicle to the top to drop riders off. The trails consist of fast sections, large jumps, large drops, skinny planks to ride on, boards with horizontal planks called ladders, teeter totters, etc. These riders are only looking to have as much fun as possible. Bikes weight ranges typically 35-45lbs, 5-8" of suspension, and 2.3-3.0" tires. Bikes are the most durable to withstand abuse from terrain ridden. Bikes geometries are fairly slack, but slightly steeper to that of a DH bike.

All Mountain (AM): This blends the best of XC, Downhill, and Freeride all into one. This is for the most common rider. One that want's to ride the all of the mountain, and not really get held back from doing something they want to. Bikes are usually 30-38lbs, and have 4-7 inches of suspension. Just slightly steeper geometry than a FR bike.

Dirt Jumping/Urban (DJ): Riding the local dirtjumps, or taking on the city to find obstacles to ride. Basically BMX riding on larger bikes. Bikes are usually hardtails, with 3-4 inches of suspension. Sometimes the frames are made of steel, others are made of alluminum. Bikes have similar geometry of XC bikes but much shorter seat tubes.

4x/Mountain Cross/Dual Slalom (4x/MX/DS): This form of racing is very similar to that of BMX racing, but on a hill. Four riders on a time going over a series of jumps and turns, racing. Dual Slalom is 2 riders on separate identical tracks, racing through gates. Bikes usually are hardtails, or full suspension with 3-4" of suspension. Bikes are slacked out similar to Freeride bikes.

*Note, recreational bikes will be most similar to XC bikes, but with added weight, and fewer components.

Cruisers: Just like you see at the beach. More upright sitting position. Made for exactly that, cruising. Bike usually have large tires, fenders, and chopper style handle bars. Some have 3 gears, others have one. Elegant paintjobs made to appear 'pretty'.

Hybrids: This type of bike is the combination of a recreational mountain bike, a cruiser, and a road bike. Very upright position. Very little suspension travel, and larger, less-knobbed tires. Made for riding the sidewalk, either to get excersise, or just to get outside.

After you have figured out what you would like to do, the next step is figuring out your price range. Then, your size. To best do this, go down to a local bike shop, and ask one of the salesmen.

Hold select while walking through grass. Use the Marking Map to your advantage. It'll tell you where it is, so you can go to the boarder of two routes and alternate between them until you are in the same route as it. This will give you one battle with it before having to alternate routes again. At least it gives you a chance to put it to sleep or affect its status in another way. In regards to Balls, I recommend doing this at night and using Dusk Balls.

Can Riachu learn volt tackle in Pokemon Diamond?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

YesBut not directly. You would have to breed a Pichu with volt tackle, then raise it into a Raichu.

To get a volt tackle Pichu, first you would need a light ball (which can be found on wild Pikachu,) and either a Raichu or a Pikachu*. Have that Pokemon hold the light ball, then put it in the daycare with a breedable Pokemon and have it lay an egg. The Pichu in the egg should have Volt tackle.

*I think the Pikachu/Raichu either has to be male, or has to be breeded with a ditto for this to work.

What does Nintendo events mean on a list of Pokemon for Pokemon Silver and gold?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

A Nintendo Event is a special gathering or some other event hosted by Nintendo to celebrate something (ie, the release of a new game or movie, an anniversary, etc). Special Pokemon, such as Celebi or Mew, are inserted into games of the participants. For older games like Pokemon Silver and Gold, Nintendo no longer distributes Pokemon. Sorry.

When Nintendo was distributing event Pokemon for Gold and Silver though, the main Pokemon available was Celebi. The player had to travel through Ilex Forest to the Shrine to meet Celebi and catch it. As for Mew, it was to be traded from Red, Blue, Yellow or Green and the other Pokemon (Lugia or Ho-Oh) was available in the game anyway.

How do you get to 1 island on Pokemon Emerald?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

You need: 2 gameboys, Pokemon emerald and firered or leafgreen, adaptor or link cable.AT EMERALD: Light ball, exp.share, zigzagoon lv.2, kingdra lv.100, skitty lv.15(must know assist), delcatty lv.100(must know double team and sing), blissey lv.100AT FIRERD: Master ball, zapdos lv.100.I'm the guy who swears, but you're sympathestic and I'll help you. Go at Pacifidlog town. Go at the houses and find and trade the bagon for the seadra. Go at Rustboro, go at the right house and trade the ralts for the seedot. Go at fortree and trade the volbeat for the plusle. And, go at the battle frontier and trade the skitty for the meowth. Go with seedot first, plusle second, meowth third and seadra final at pacifidlog again. Go to the southeasternmost house there and talk to the bald. He has 5% possibilities to say that he can see mirage island. I f not try another day. If yes, learn surf to the seasor, and go right until you meet an isle. Pick up the liechi berry, catch 2-3 wynauts at lv.5 to 50, at multiples of 5 and go at oldale town. Insert the pokecenter and open the other gameboy with the firered and with firered go at Viridian and insert too the pokecenter. At both gameboys you must have spoken to Teala. Give the light ball to the lv.2 zigzagoon, and go at the Trade center with emerald. With firered, you must have noticed that you can give all items to Pokemon. Give a master ball to Zapdos lv.100, you must have one, and caught not with master ball. You must give the zapdos lv.100 holding master ball from firered to emerald, and the lv.2 zigzagoon holding light ball from emerald to firered. You have been on mirage island before, right? If no, start over. Close firered and with emerald, fly at lilycove and head west at safari zone. Go at the PC. Deposit the seasor, the dots and the meowow. Plusle must have gotten 1st. Select move items. Give the lv.15 skitty the exp.share and knows assist, and withdraw it. Also, take the lv.100 delcatty third(that knows double team and sing), the lv.100 kingdra fourth, and the lv.100 blissey final. You have now 5 Pokemon. 1st the seadra, 2nd the skitty, 3rd the delcatty, 4th the kingdra and 5th the blissey(it evolves from chansey holding lucky punch and trade). Insert safari zone and go northeast and catch awooper. Catch also a Shuckle, fly at Fallarbor, go southwest and catch a Seviper, and fly at Fortree, and search at the lake with the fisherman south, to catch a feebas. Now go at the battle frontier, go at the pike's PC and take with you the seviper, the shuckle and the feebas. 1st must be feebas, 2nd seviper and 3rd shuckle. Beat two times the lv.50 battle pike and you'll encounter pike queen Lucy, that has too a seviper and a shuckle, but she has the evolved form from feebas, milotic. When you beat her put the s.s. ticket at your key items pocket 1st and register it. Go at lilycove's port, and select slateport. Reply <> and at the same time tap repeatadly <>not B! Your game will close if you press <>. You will normally go at the ferry. Don't talk in anyone, sleep until you have arrived in slateport. Before talk to the sailor to the exit, save 5 times. Talk to him and when he says:<>, press A, B, start and select. That's a restart. Load again your game and you'll be again at the ferry. Talk to the sailor, but when he says <>, don't press A! You will be at slateport. Before exit, save. Now exit and open firered. Get back the master ball from the traded zapdos at emerald. At firered, take the light ball from the traded zigzagoon, and trade it to emerald for the zapdos. At emerald, you must have a master ball and a zzigzagoon, and at firered you must have a light ball and a zapdos. Go back at battle frontier's port. Have only the zigzagoon with you, without holding anything, and tell to warp at lilycove. Are you sure in lilycove?
