To change the EGR valve on a 1995 Lincoln Mark VIII, first, disconnect the negative battery cable to ensure safety. Remove the vacuum lines and electrical connectors from the EGR valve, then unbolt the valve from its mounting location. Clean the mounting surface to remove any old gasket material before installing the new EGR valve, making sure to use a new gasket. Finally, reattach the vacuum lines and electrical connectors, and reconnect the battery.

There really isn't an adjustment just the IAC valve which may be dirty causing the idle to be too high or too low so the Idle Air Control valve has to be cleaned or changed.
Valve cover gaskets are leaking. The valve cover gasket has seals as well around the sparkplug openings. These seals leak and leak oil into the sparkplug wells. drl
