you open the bonnet and then you go to the back of the headlight and youll see a wire and clip attached to the black casing unclip that wire and then unscrew the black plastic screw then youl have a clip unclip it and then pull out your light bulb and then put a new one in and put the clip back on and

I have a 91 Jetta and have experienced difficulty as well. There is a piece of black plastic in the way- I removed it and can now change the bulb with relative ease. I haven't noticed any problems with that part missing- . Here is a link to a very detailed description. Not sure it applies to a '91, as it was written for a 2000. http://mboedick.org/042/29/how-to-change-the-headlight-bulb-on-a-2000-volkswagen-jetta-gls
unplug the bulb. remove the metal headlight clips that secure it to the grille. They are located around the perimeter on the front. pull headlight straight out of the front of the car. put on a flat surface. remove lock ring. replace with new bulb being careful to line up the grooves and pins. Firmly push new bulb in until seal at base of bulb is properly seated. replace lock ring. put headlight back through front of grille and replace metal clips. plug bulb in and you are done. Don't try to replace bulb from the back. It is virtually impossible to do it correctly, especially on the passenger side. A poorly installed bulb will cause the holding area to melt from bulb heat resulting in a leak and water filled headlight. I speak from experience. Mine is '91.
It should be the same way as the 90 and 91 just a clip holds the light in
i asked myself this question until noticing how easy it actually is. Once you get the rubber cover off of the back of the light you will see a metal clip looking thing. Push the rods down and out of their slot and lift up. The bulb will be down inside there and it is a simple push in pull out connector.
I have a 91, it was real simple. Lift the hood and reach in right behind the front light, you will see where there is a cord attached to the light bulb, disconnect it. Untwist the circular ring and the bulb pulls right out. Replace bulb and backtrack to put back together.
I purchased a halogen low beam replacement bulb for my 2001 TL from a NAPA autoparts. Be prepared to pay though, one bulb set me back $91. I'm sure most autoparts stores (autozone etc) will carry these.
Yes other Nissan alternaters can be used. The biggist problem you have is to fit it.The wireing of all alternaters are basicly the same but easy to change.
If the headlight that runs through the modulator first is out then the daytime running lights won't work. Change the bulb and the daytime lights should then work.
in the dash
change the headlight switch it controls the running lights....$15 at autozone
