--First, click on your little Apple Icon at the top left of your screen
--Next, click "System Preferences...", the forth menu item down (first one below the horizontal bar)
--After that you'll be in your System Preferences window, and you'll see a whole bunch of stuff. Don't get overwhelmed. Now under "Personal" (the top most line of icons below "Show All") You will see the words "Desktop and Screensaver" Click it.
--Now you'll see quite a Few folders and pictures that you can use for your desktop wallpaper, there's different ones you can pick. Solid Colors is the bottom-most System Default wallpaper you can have.
Here's how you get ones that you have/made :3
--Click "Choose Folder..." And browse your folders until you come up to one with the image you want to use (I personally have a folder with 8 desktops pictures that I have change randomly)
--You don't have to chose a picture from that "Open" screen, just choose the folder.
--After that, choose a picture and how you want to display it on the desktop. Also you can set it to change your picture at certain times :3
To change the Desktop's background image right click on the desktop and select Change Desktop Background... from the menu. This will open System Preferences in the Desktop and ScreenSaver section. Click the Desktop button at the top and select from the choices in the right hand pane.
Import the image you want to use as background into iPhoto.
Select the image you want to use as background (one click only).
Select the "Desktop"-menu option from the "Share"-menu. This will make the image your new desktop image.
Additionally, if you want to have your desktop image change constantly (playing your entire iPhotos library), go to System preferences, click on "Desktop and Screensaver", scroll down until you find the iPhoto library. Click on either the entire library, or the folder of choice and then click "change picture" and set the time you want the change to occur.
Save the picture into your Pictures folder (Right click on the picture and select Save Image As... from the menu). In System Preferences select the Desktop & ScreenSaver section. Select the Display tab and find the Pictures folder in the left hand section. Select the desired picture in the right hand section and change the drop down menu to fit the picture to the size of the screen or center on screen or whatever you prefer.
If you are using the mac version of PowerPoint, Keynote, then go to File>Show Master Slides. When you see the "master slides" appear on the bar on the left, you click on the ones that you want to have the picture in the backgrounds. So, if you want it on every one of the body slides, click on the body slide (Usually called "title and bullets") and drag your desired picture onto it. Now, every time that you want a new slide, it will have that picture on it. If you just want to have the picture on one of the backgrounds, you drag it onto the side and place it where you want it. Once its where you want it, right click on the picture and select "Send to back." When its in the back, it wont effect your text.
If you are using Office PowerPoint, its very similar.
Go to View>Master>Slide Master. Once there, drag on your desired picture and format it the way you would like. It will appear on all of your slides in the background. If you would just like it on only one of the backgrounds, right click, Arrange>Send to Back then it will be in the background on only that one slide and not effect the text.
If you do not want to drag the picture from the browser,
In PowerPoint, you can click Insert>Picture>From File and access it if its on your desktop, or in your iPhoto or off of a drive. Just select where you have the picture saved, then find the picture, and it will insert onto the slide you have selected.
In Keynote, on the grey bar on the top of the window, there is a icon labeled "Media". If you click it, it will take you to iPhoto immediately, and you can select a picture from there. If your picture is on your desktop, and you don't want to drag it directly onto the slide, you can import it into iPhoto and access it from there.
